Becoming RoHS compliant enables Tamura to rotate existing inventory, avoid purging any distributor warehouse stock, thereby protecting the landfills they are trying to save.
What is RoHS?
The purpose of RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances -- Directive 2002/95/EC) is to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances and to reduce the waste management concerns associated with the disposal of the toxins likely to cause health problems and damage the environment (Directive WEEE 2002/96/EC -- Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Banned Substances for RoHS:
• Cadmium
• Hexavalent Chromium
• Lead
• Mercury
• PBBs (Polybrominated biphenyls)
• PBDEs(Polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
Additional substances in the WEEE list of hazardous waste:
• CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons)
• PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls)
• ODS (Ozone Depleting Substances)
• Asbestos
• Arsenic
